Staff Assessment
Measuring Managers Assessing the winners
Nowadays, before recruiting senior staff, it's common for candidates to complete psychological and psychometric testing to help determine suitability. What's valid for new entrants is also valuable for assessing existing staff, especially when promotion or other responsibility changes are envisaged.
At Alexander Lort, we offer testing and assessment as part of the recruitment process, and it's also available as an aid to our clients when defining career paths for their current management cadre.
To a certain level of seniority, assessment can be a self-administered task, performed using questionnaires which we'll help you develop and interpret. For more senior roles, we suggest the organisation's psychometric tests are backed up by interview with a trained psychologist. Usually this is done as part of a your regular staff appraisal process with our psychologist briefing the appraiser before the interview and then sitting in as an observer. This format is less threatening for the manager, and by making them more relaxed it helps you assess their attitudes and ambitions more easily.
If you'd like to talk to us further about this, just contact any of our senior consultants.
